Several days ago a group of Japanese kids entered the Guiness Book of Records.
Two interesting things about it.
One of the silver linings in The Prestige was the question: “Are you watching closely?”
Watch the video above, if you haven’t already done so.
Mesmerising, isn’t it?
After you finish wondering if it is fake, wipe your eyes, wet from the strain to find a trick in the video and think —
What’s the secret of their clockwork performance?
What’s that noise?
Is it cheering?
Or is it a synchronisation counter?
Each kid shouting in-sync.
How do you synchronise your crews?
There are many metaphors describing leadership, but one or two I seldom read or hear about.
A leader is a conductor and a metronome.
But let’s go beyond that.
How about a leader, who has imparted her or himself into the crew to the extend that everybody is the leader.
The leader as a preacher.
Or as a cult.
I admire the teacher who has made these kids do that.
